Did we know The Giving Tree was about a mother?
water—Where do you need watering this week? For me it’s shutting my yapper until I’ve collected myself.
May is always a bit crazy of a month. We’ve got end of year school extras, teacher gifts, gardening and outdoor to dos, seasonal clothing swaps, and summer prep.
It’s unsurprising. I know it’s coming. And I still get snippy. I have a hard time shutting my yapper with my kids. I let my overstimulated mouth open before I’ve gained composure.
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. (Colossians 4:6)
I need to take my constant reminder to my children and turn it on my tongue.
Be a blessing, not a burden.
Intentionally make others’ days better, not worse.
eat smorgasroles (an easy way to use up leftovers)—This one is for the busy mom who wants her kids to actually eat dinner, desires minimal cooking effort on a Friday night, and wants to impress her husband with her ability to not waste food and surprise him by relieving him from his duties of eating all leftovers.
My favorite way to use up leftovers is called Smorgasrole. It’s a tater tot casserole. But with random, surprise ingredients, how fun! When you don’t know what to cook, try this.

what to listen to while you cook—book—For an easy and creative read that will make you want to be pen pals with all your friends, read The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. It’s the only book I’ve five starred so far this year which really means I’m here for some better recommendations. I enjoyed this book’s structure being letters back and forth. The book was real, raw emotional life with nothing obnoxiously punchy about it which is maybe what we need in an era of fiction novels aimed at those seeking to escape any realm of reality.
pod—Phylicia Masonheimer’s entire prayer series from episode 161-174 (and maybe some more to come?) have been so so so so good. I particularly enjoyed episode 163, Praying God’s Will and 164, When God Doesn’t Answer.
pod—If you’d like a Christian world view perspective on politics without all the drama of us Millennials, The Briefing by Albert Mohler is a really great 20-30 minute daily podcast where he goes over current world news and events. I’ve enjoyed listening to him on occasion lately even though he makes me feel like a total rum dumb. It’s always mind boggling when someone can know so much about the history of all world events.
snacks—Bite size goodness. Today, all I’m here for is to provide a few feel good spring photos for your enjoyment.
finally captured out backyard visitor in all his or her glory. just a beaut.
will continue to keep you updated on these babies (update: sadly none of them made it.)
happy flower shopping season. THEY’RE JUST ALL SO PRETTY.
will be ordering 7,000 more of these lovely things this fall. just kidding….kind of.
drink water. eat snacks. and remember—
“Your greatest contribution to the kingdom of God may not be something you do, but someone you raise.”
